Overview
To use additional languages not included on the BlackBerry smartphone, the Multi-Language Installer should be installed on the BlackBerry smartphone.
The BlackBerry Device Software for the BlackBerry smartphone includes the language pack. For example, BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 release 1059
(platform 4.2.0.284/applications 5.0.0.591) for the Tour 9630 includes the language pack.
Below are the East Asian languages available with the All Language Installer:
• Chinese Pinyin
• Chinese WoBoMoFo
• Chinese Traditional Pinyin
• Chinese WubiHua
• Chinese Stroke
• Chinese Simplified CangJei
• Chinese Jyutping
• Chinese Traditional CangJei

To install additional languages to the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
1. Download the BlackBerry Device Software for the BlackBerry smartphone that includes the Multi-Language pack. For example, BlackBerry Device Software v5.0 Multi-Language for the Tour 9630.
Note: Devices that are NOT associated with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or with BlackBerry Professional Software can add additional languages by following the steps below and performing a web-based upgrade at
www.blackberry.com/updates.
2. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the PC and open
BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If Desk Top Manager is not installed on your PC, click
here
3. Select the
application loader tool.

Note: You may be prompted with the following message if software updates are available.
Select Update Now.
Select Options for Device Software Options.
If no updates are available, continue with step 4.

4. Open
Add/Remove Programs.
Note: You may be prompted to put in your password on the device once updates begin.
5. From the Device Application Select screen, locate
the desired language.
Note: For Asian Languages, you will need to scroll down to
East Asian Language and Input Support section located near the bottom of the list.
6. Select the language(s) you want to install.
7. Click
Next. The installation will begin.
Once the BlackBerry Device Software is installed on the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following:
1. Launch
Setup Wizard from the device
2. Select
Language and Text Input
3. Select
Next
4. Check languages that will be used
5. Select
Finish
To change language on Device for Input and/or UI:
1. Go to
Options
2. Select
Languages and Text Input
3. Select appropriate language from drop down for Language and/or Input Language
To uninstall languages from Device:
1. Go to
Setup
2. Select
Setup Wizard
3. Select
Language and Input
4. Select
Next
5. Uncheck languages that are no longer needed
6. Select
Finish
